Titties & Beer [Zoot Allures Live in Paris] (03.02.1977) (LP)

Pavillon de Paris, 03-Feb-1977
Issued both on Smilin' Ears Records and as HFQ 177 (these things were printed on the actual labels) with nearly identical covers - the only detail that's different is the colour of the text on the front cover. It says "ZAPPA" and "Titties and Beer", and the Smilin' Ears version has all that printed in red, while the HFQ 177 version has "ZAPPA" and "and" in black, "Titties" in red and "Beer" in yellow. The print on the respective labels is set in the same font.

Some copies may have only one of the titles Titties & Beer and Zoot Allures Live in Paris. The confirmed copies certainly have both: Titties & Beer on one side of the cover and Zoot Allures Live in Paris on the other. These copies have Titties & Beer on the spine.

Length: ~90 min / ~45 min
Sound quality: Audience B
Label: Smilin' Ears Records 7702 / HFQ 177

Musicians:
Frank Zappa, Ray White, Eddie Jobson, Patrick O'Hearn and Terry Bozzio.

1. The Illinois Enema Bandit [only the last part]
2. My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama
3. Tryin' to Grow a Chin
4. Broken Hearts Are for Assholes
5. Dong Work for Yuda [not listed, a capella version]
6. Manx Needs Women [not listed]
7. Titties & Beer [listed on side one instead]
8. Le Serviette Noir ["Black Napkins"]

One front cover variant has a black & white photo of Zappa sitting down. Another shot from the same photo session was used on a Kyoto bootleg called Black Napkins. "Titties & Beer" had extra lyrics on this tour, which were never released officially.

Demo's 1974-1984 2CD (2LP)

Here we'll have the opportunity to hear a speed corrected version of the "Demo's" boot.

I knew the guy who made this bootleg 2LP way back in 1986, the original one. I don't think he was really intending to get money with this (well, maybe a bit, and maybe a bit of showing off too ). He was and maybe still is a huge FZ fan.
At the time this bootleg came out it was a very nice one for everyone who didn't have a great cassette collection: some special live songs, outtakes and the Hunchentoot songs.
The 2CD on the other hand was later on published by "money makers" pur sang.

Liberated at Zappateers for the first time by efzett, now speed corrected by our speed doctor, and liberated one more time by yours truly.
I took the opportunity to make another correction compared to the original. On the original cover Spider Of Destiny is listed seperately, in fact it was included as part of Flambay (segue) and SOD in fact was Time Is Money. I made a seperate track for SOD and that means: while the original is listing 16 songs, now we have 17 songs as listed here under.
Besides I had to edit a few tracks since they were not tracked properly (in particular the whole 1981 Santa Monica run) and had to do volume corrections on all tracks to get more balance.

Length after speed correction and editing: 78:17
Sound quality: Various
Label: Space Magic (2LP), RAS 8611 (2CD)

01. Teenage Prostitute [02:19]
02. A Pound for a Brown on the Bus / Nicholas Slonimsky Whips It Out [4.51]
03. Lisa's Life Story [full-length version of the Stage #6 edit] [5:14]
04. Broken Hearts Are for Assholes [5:46]

05. Doreen [02:25]
06. Easy Meat [08:25]
07. Stick It Out [01:16]
08. Truck-Driver Divorce [07:08]

09. The Deathless Horsie [10:20]
10. Outside Now Again & Again [10:45]

11. Flambay [extended version] [04:52]
12. Spider of Destiny [extended version] [03:04]
13. Planet of My Dreams [Them Or Us version] [01:32]
14. Time Is Money [not listed] [Sleep Dirt CD version] [02:48]
15. Truck-Driver Divorce [01:30]
16. Frogs with Dirty Little Lips [Frank/Ahmet Zappa] [01:58]
17. In France [03:55]

Side 4 from the LP / or CD 2 is listed wrong on the cover(s); the above is the new corrected list.

* Tracks 1-4 are live in Santa Monica 11-Dec-1981 (first show).
* Track 3 appears on Stage #6, edited down to 03:06, but here it's unedited: 05:14.
* Track 4 is the same recording as on Apocrypha (Santa Monica, 11-Dec-1981, early show). Someone throws food on stage; Zappa stops the song and makes him eat it.
* Tracks 5-6 are from Crush All Boxes (an unreleased album planned before Tinsel-Town Rebellion), but "Doreen" fades out earlier here and is not complete (02:47 vs 02:25).
* Tracks 7-8 are live at the Palace Theater, Hollywood, 22-Jul-1984, with George Duke guesting on "Truck-Driver Divorce".
* Tracks 9-10 are live in Munich 31-Mar-1979.
* Track 10 is an "Outside Now" solo, similar to "Outside Now (Original Solo)" on Guitar; it also appears on Lectures where it's called "Shut Up & Play Yer Guitar Again".
* Tracks 11 & 12 are the Sleep Dirt CD mixes, but longer edits: "Spider of Destiny" with a bass ending is around 30 seconds longer (the Sleep Dirt version is edited in the middle and end).
* Track 14 is the same as on the Sleep Dirt CD.
* Track 15 is a part of a live 1981 version (about one and a half minute of the head).
* Track 16 is a 1981 studio version (the same recording as on Apocrypha).
* Track 17 is live at the Palace Theater, Hollywood, 22-Jul-1984, with George Duke and Johnny "Guitar" Watson guesting. It has a unique intro, but is available with better sound quality on All You Need Is Glove.

* Santa Monica 1981 musicians: Frank Zappa, Ray White, Steve Vai, Tommy Mars, Bobby Martin, Ed Mann, Scott Thunes, Chad Wackerman, Lisa Popeil and Nicholas Slonimsky
* Munich 1979 musicians: Frank Zappa, Denny Walley, Ike Willis, Tommy Mars, Peter Wolf, Vinnie Colaiuta, Ed Mann, Arthur Barrow and Warren Cuccurullo

CD Version
The CD version was available in 1988 or even '87. Both discs come in jewel boxes with identical inserts and a "Made In Japan" sticker on the back of one jewel box. The cover shows a picture of some industrial machinery with the words "BLIND-RAMS" stenciled onto it along with a small pumpkin cartoon. The CD has is a simple screen-printed disc with the CD logo, the pumpkin cartoon, "Demo's", and the catalogue number RAS 8611.

Larry Wild Man Fischer - Key Club, Hollywood, CA (2001-07-07)

This was the first time Larry "Wild Man" Fischer had performed onstage in many years; he was the opening act for Daniel Johnston, and Rhino Handmade had just released the box set "The Fischer King" two years prior. (In fact, I believe this was his second-to-last performance, the final one being in Phoenix, Arizona on August 2006.) He was introduced by Melrose Larry Green, who as I recall, was running for Mayor.
